10 Things to do With or Without Kids This Halloween 

10 THINGS TO DO WITH OR WITHOUT KIDS THIS HALLOWEENWhether you’re looking for some good Old Fashioned fun with your children or want a scary night out with friends this Halloween, we have you covered with our list of events going on in and around Vancouver this year.

1. Stanley Park Ghost Train runs until November 1st. They have both a Matinee Train running Friday to Sunday from 11am – 5:30pm and Live Theatrical Performance night train running Monday to Thursday 5:30-9:30pm and Friday to Sunday from 5:30 – 10:00pm. Make sure you get your tickets in advance as seats sell out quickly close to Halloween, tickets can be purchased here.2. Alien Contagion: Rise of the Zombie Syndrome runs until November 1st. This is the 4th year of The Virtual Stage’s hit immersive theatrical event. Audience members take part in a mission to save the world from aliens who have unleashed the zombie plague upon downtown Vancouver.  The event takes place in a different secret location every year and sells out quickly. Tickets can be purchased here.3. Fright Nights at Playland runs until November 1st. Fright Nights features 7 haunted houses, 15 rides, and Radiant Heat shows from 7pm - midnight October 27th - 29th & November 1st, and 7pm - 1am October 30th & 31st. You can purchase discounted tickets  here.4. If you’re really in to haunted houses, there are lots around the city this Halloween.
  1. Fearmongers in Richmond is definitely not for the faint of heart. It runs until November 22nd.
  2. Gravecouver in Metrotown has been deemed more kid friendly but definitely check out their site and decide for yourself. It runs until October 31st. 
  3. Chinatown Haunted House at Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Garden is not child friendly and runs until October 31st. 
  4. Potter’s House of Horrors in Surrey (beware the website, it screams at you) is known for it’s scares and runs until October 31st.
  5. Reaper’s Haunted House in Chilliwack in open nightly until October 31st and features a haunted maze.
  6. Ghost Ridge in Maple Ridge has a Circus theme this year and is entirely volunteer run. There is a family friendly hour from 5pm-6pm on October 24th and 25th and runs from 6pm-9pm until the 30th.

5. Pumpkin Patches are a great time for young and old, there are plenty around so find one nice and close to you. But if you so please, here are a few that could be a bit of a drive away but offer more than just a wander through the orange orbs. 
  • Laity Pumpkin Patch in Maple Ridge has a petting zoo, many wooden cut outs of your favourite characters and animals to pose with, and a corn maze.
  • Krause Berry Farms in Langley is an estate winery and offers fruit wine tastings as well as food from their kitchen. They have an incredible bakery and market in which you can purchase fresh made pies and many other goods to enjoy at home or in their garden.
  • Southlands Farms in Vancouver is a magical farming oasis in the city. See the horses, pet the lambs, and pick a pumpkin from their apple orchard.
6. Trick-Or-Treating is of course what every kid is looking forward to; and if you have small children sensitive to the cold there are some fun indoor places you can go to still let them have the experience of yelling “Trick-Or-Treat” at strangers. 7. The Halloween Carnival at the Yaletown Roundhouse Community Centre from 4:30 - 7:30 on Saturday October 31st. Dress up in your creepiest costume and participate in ghoulish games and creepy crafts. Explore the “Creepy Hollow” forest full of spooky surprises and other fun activities. Children must be supervised by an adult. Pre-registration required, drop-ins permitted only if space is available. 8. Vancouver Haunted Trolley Tours features Vancouver Ghost Stories with stops at the Vancouver Police Museum and Mountain View Cemetery. This tour is for ages 13+ and requires you to call in to book ahead.9. Halloween at FlyOver Canada is running until November 1st, check their site to see which times will be Halloween themed. This Halloween, Broomelda is back and ready to all lead all aspiring witches and wizards through the Haunted Witches Academy. 10. For all you +19 year olds who want to get out on the town check out this website for some fun parties and club crawls happening around the city.
